The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications to lead our communications strategy during an exciting period of transformation. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for shaping the public narrative around the council’s key initiatives and enhancing the visibility of Redbridge on a regional and national scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies that align with corporate strategies.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the council’s communications, including campaigns, media relations, digital communications.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Leader and Cabinet, senior corporate leaders, local media, residents, businesses, and partners.
- Promote Redbridge as a great place to live, work, and invest, highlighting the borough’s achievements and ongoing projects.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and proactive communication across all channels, addressing the diverse needs of our community in the context of Equity and Inclusion.
- Lead a team of communications professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
About You:
- Proven experience in a senior communications role, ideally within a public sector or local government environment.
- A strategic thinker with a strong track record of developing and executing successful communication campaigns.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for a range of audiences.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local government, particularly in the context of a diverse and growing community.
- Passionate about making a positive impact in the community and committed to the values of public service.
