Creativity, ambition and a focus on people. That’s what matters here. Our award-winning council is on an exciting journey of change. It’s all about putting local people at the heart of everything, listening to and doing good for our communities.
Our values
We live and work by our four values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we’ll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent. You see, we prioritise learning and enabling staff to achieve their potential. So, we’ve created a development process that lets you grow in the way that suits you - whether that’s training to be a leader or learning flexibly online.
About the service
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has embarked on an exciting period of strategic improvement and development.
Serving children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers is at the heart of what we do. Although there are many strengths in the SEND system in Barnsley, we know that there is still lots to do on the journey of improvement. The EHC Service is well established and team members are friendly, supportive and welcoming.
Education, Health & Care Plan Assistant Coordinator
As an Assistant EHC Plan Coordinator, you will be well placed to make a positive difference for some of our most vulnerable children, young people and their families. With responsibility to provide and implement statutory procedures, you will support the EHC Coordinators to work together with parents and carers to ensure a positive experience of the EHC process. Good communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritise your workload are essential for this role, as is the ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales. An understanding of the needs assessment process and graduated approach will also support an understanding of the role.
