We’re excited to be recruiting a Curriculum and Quality Coordinator to support the delivery of adult education here in Barnsley, the place of possibilities.

How do we sum up Barnsley Council? Well, we’re a double award-winning, high-performing council with a growing economy, a thriving town centre and some truly impressive outcomes in our communities.

This is why we’ve been awarded Council of the Year for 2023 by the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) and The Municipal Journal (MJ).

Our Adult Skills and Community Learning Service has been a key part of our win; we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved not just for the council but for our partners and Barnsley.

We’re impressed. Are you? It’s the perfect time to join our excellent team.

Our Adult Skills and Community Learning Service delivers adult education for life and work supporting residents to address the barriers they face to participation in their own lives, families, communities and work.

As Quality and Curriculum Coordinator you will be part of the senior management team and will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities.  You will lead and manage the provision of a high-quality curriculum offer which supports the skills development and qualifications acquisition of adults aged 19+ across the communities.

The progress and achievement of learners is always your number one concern.  You will be committed to both the development and delivery of a curriculum offer that addresses the needs of the local community as well as to the continuous improvement of teaching, learning and assessment and the impact this has on outcomes for learners so that every learner in every subject and every lesson can be assured of a high-quality experience which supports them to reach their full potential.

Your skills and experience will allow you to simultaneously contribute to the development of the Service whilst providing direct leadership and management for a team of teaching staff.  You will encourage and support all staff to aspire to achieve the highest possible standards and quality in teaching, learning and assessment whilst delivering a curriculum that meets local priorities thereby supporting the people of Barnsley to progress in, into or towards employment and economic prosperity.

What you'll need

To join us, you’ll need a Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline and a professional teaching qualification.  You will have substantial experience of leading and managing learning delivery in either an adult community education or further education setting where your work will have resulted in improvement for the organisation and the performance of staff.  You will need knowledge and experience of curriculum development and a commitment to the delivery of a high-quality product.

A lot to look forward to

We need someone who can take the best ideas and turn them into reality.

Attitude is everything, as we need a Curriculum and Quality Coordinator who puts the learning needs of our residents first whilst adhering to funding and quality frameworks and contributing to the economic development of our Borough.

We live and work by our four values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we'll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent.

Apply

If you meet the identified criteria, this role offers an incredible opportunity to achieve your ambitions. We look forward to hearing from you.
