We are seeking to appoint a Senior Electoral Services Officer with specialist knowledge of electoral registration and experience of supporting elections to join our Democracy Team. The role will be part of a small, friendly, and busy team working at the heart of the Council to support participation in the democratic process. Career development will be positively supported including opportunities to participate in AEA events and conferences.
Rushmoor Borough Council is in north-east Hampshire and holds elections by thirds. It has no parishes and one parliamentary constituency in its area. The next scheduled elections are the Hampshire County Council elections in May 2025.
The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in supporting the planning, organising and delivery of elections in our Borough. They will have day-to-day responsibility for managing and maintaining the accuracy of the electoral register, and for the annual canvass of electors. The role will also be responsible for some supervision and training support for an Elections and Administration Officer and to contribute to the Democracy Team’s wider activities and events.
Experience of working in electoral services is essential for success in this role and the ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of interpreting and applying electoral legislation. You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong skills for customer care and be organised and able to show a high level of attention to detail and accuracy particularly when working to deadlines and under pressure.
