The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Inclusion Worker (SEMH) to join our School Placement Support Team. The School Placement Support Team are responsible for working with children and young people identified at risk of permanent exclusion and supporting them within their current school as well as staff at the school with strategies to support the child or young person within the school.
In this role, you will be required to undertake a number of diverse specialist or technical activities within the Education Partnership Service, using skills that would have been gained through formal qualifications and/or considerable relevant work experience. Roles at this level are expected to work unsupervised for much of the time, accessing and assessing information independently.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
This position is currently based at our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood. This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset.

- Hold own case/work load
- Provide support and advice to school based professionals as detailed within an appropriate assessment framework and implement or commission planned interventions to keep students engaged within their school community
- Introduce or give information and advice to staff in schools and members of the Inclusion Panel about other ways to work with challenging students. Establish & maintain appropriate links between service users and other professionals to encourage a clear understanding of each other's priorities and ways of working.
- Communicate effectively with multi agency partners, colleagues and service users, both verbally and in writing through the appropriate use of case notes and other record keeping within information sharing protocols and record keeping policies
