We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Teacher to join our team at INWS, an Independent Special school for SEMH students. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and delivering high-quality Maths curriculum for both KS3 and KS4 as well as supporting students with SEMH needs to achieve their full potential in literacy skills.
Person Specification:
Curriculum Development:
Assist with the development and implementation of a dynamic and engaging Maths curriculum that is tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH needs.
Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and other staff members to ensure that the Maths curriculum aligns with the school's vision, policies, and educational objectives.
Regularly review and update the Maths curriculum to incorporate best practices, innovative teaching methods, and relevant resources.
Assessment and Progress Tracking:
Develop and implement robust assessment strategies to monitor student progress in Maths and identify areas for growth and intervention.
Analyse assessment data to inform instructional planning, target-setting, and individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to establish clear and measurable learning objectives and ensure that students are making consistent progress towards these goals.
Inclusion and Differentiation:
Champion inclusive practices in Maths teaching and learning, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background or abilities, have equitable access to the curriculum and are supported to achieve their full potential.
Differentiate instruction and provide tailored support to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH needs, including those with specific learning difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and behavioural concerns.
Collaboration and Partnership:
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and external stakeholders to promote engagement, collaboration, and partnership in supporting students' literacy development.
Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies to coordinate support services, interventions, and referrals for students with SEMH needs.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities to share expertise, collaborate on student support strategies, and promote continuous improvement.
Qualifications and training:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Maths or a related field.
Proven experience in teaching Maths, preferably in a SEMH or special educational needs setting.
Strong understanding of SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and behaviour management strategies.
Excellent knowledge of the Maths curriculum and assessment frameworks, including GCSE and functional skills.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
