The work is carried out in all weathers.</span></p> <p><span>As a service we take pride in our work by valuing others, focusing on what's important so that we make a real and positive difference. </span></p> <p><span><strong>What is the role? </strong></span></p> <p><span>This role manages the overall waste collection service and reports directly to the Head of Waste Management.  From the Depot their team of 90 staff delivers Portsmouth City Council's waste collection service including collection of refuse and/or recycling materials from waste containers - kerbside, communal and bring banks sites and delivery of containers. The service operates Monday to Friday with an earliest start time of 6am.</span></p> <p><span>You will hold a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence and  be responsible for the waste collection vehicle fleet (33 vehicles up to 26T) and driver compliance, ensuring that;</span></p> <ul>\n<li><span>drivers have a valid licence</span></li> <li><span>vehicles are taxed and insured</span></li> <li><span>vehicles have a valid MOT and are properly maintained</span></li> <li><span>vehicles are loaded safely and not overloaded</span></li> <li><span>drivers do not speed or break the drivers’ hours rules</span></li> </ul> <p><span>You will be required to be a named person on the Operating licence for the service and ensure that requirements are met at all times. Experience of reviewing and writing risk assessments and implementing these with staff.
