Craftsman Gardener (Career Grade)

We are looking for three enthusiastic and able gardeners to join our team maintaining Burnley’s award-winning green spaces.

Your duties will cover all types of landscape management and cleaning operations, which will include maintenance of grass, vegetation and weed control, pruning, planting, clearing of leaves, litter and removing fly-tipped rubbish, emptying bins and toilet cleaning.  You will be required to drive and operate a range of horticultural equipment and machinery including ATVs and quad bikes fitted with boom sprayers, pedestrian and ride-on mowers, ensuring the safety and security of the public, facilities and equipment. Training will be provided by our own LANTRA qualified trainers or external training providers.

You must have a driving licence and a level 2 qualification in amenity horticulture or be able to demonstration of equivalent experience and knowledge.  You must also be able to communicate effectively and to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner and be able to work as part of a team to meet targets.  You must also be physically fit and able to undertake strenuous manual work in all weather conditions, undertake weekend work when required, and be capable of undertaking further training.

Progression onto grade 5 will be dependent on being able to demonstrate competence in all aspects of the role and obtaining additional qualifications as outlined in the job description/person specification.
