Brighton & Hove has a full and vibrant programme of events taking place across the city throughout the year. Would you like to be involved in the co-ordination of events that take place on the highway, from community street parties to our largest citywide events? If so, we would like to hear from you!
Hours: Full Time, 37 per week
This is a Fixed Term position for 12 months
About the role
As the Highway Events Officer you will co-ordinate street closures and traffic management for events on the local road network.
You will:
- Work with event organisers to ensure that all their documentation conforms to the legislation and council policies.
- Review traffic management proposals for events, identifying any necessary amendments.
- Process applications for road closures and other traffic management for events, making sure that the legal orders are in place so the events can go ahead.
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, from individual residents to representatives of large organisations.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance conflicting demands and changing work priorities.
- Ability to work within the requirements of relevant legislation (in particular the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984).

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
