West Northamptonshire Council delivers a broad range of critical services to residents across the authority, from Adults Social Care, Public Health, Housing Solutions to running libraries and leisure centres, major highways schemes and refuse collection.
The Business Intelligence and Population Insights team is vital in shaping the council’s decision making, strategy development and delivery through the provision of high quality information and intelligence. The service helps drive forwards innovation and technological efficiencies through the insights it is able to provide.
We’re on the lookout for a Business Intelligence & Population Insights Business Partner to become a critical link between our centralised Intelligence team and the council’s wider directorates.

You will be one of a small team of Business Partners, each aligned to a council directorate and will become a main conduit between your allocated directorate and Business Intelligence. You will be responsible for shaping the service’s reporting requirements, identifying new lines of enquiry, presenting analysis and insights to senior managers and becoming a trusted Intelligence lead for the directorate supported. This is a proactive and creative role which focuses on working with senior managers within the organisation to drawing out the key messages and issues, forward planning and shaping service’s intelligence needs.
We have a vacancy in our team to support children’s services which we are looking to recruit a Business Intelligence Business Partner to, it would be advantageous but not essential to have some experience or knowledge of data on education attainment and children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Your Responsibilities
You will develop strong working relationships with key council services, presenting analytical insights to senior managers and imparting evidence-based analysis which is critical to their service delivery.
You will actively seek improved ways of working, innovation, greater efficiencies and synergies across the wider Intelligence team. You will develop good knowledge and awareness of legislative requirements and new initiatives or priorities that impact on the service or area of work and encompass them into working practices.
You will be adept at presenting information to audiences which don’t necessarily have a background in data analysis, simplifying and helping services make sense of complex data. You will be technically proficient in data manipulation and able to walk colleagues through the necessary steps as to how reporting measures are calculated.

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to build strong working relationships across the organisation to ensure a collaborative approach to Business Intelligence activities.

A broad Business Intelligence skills base, with excellent technical knowledge and skills to be able to interrogate and manipulate data, and to simplify complex data.

An advanced understanding of performance information, statistical analysis and the importance of high quality data and its use.

Knowledge of how to understand, digest and reframe complex information requirements so that it can be delivered to a wide range of audiences varying knowledge levels

Sound strategic planning skills and the ability to work fast and accurately whilst prioritising competing demands

A flair for problem-solving and finding innovative solutions to address and improve

A proactive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude and able to contribute new ideas to the team
